Under streets
Some of our top racing pilots are fond of saying that they don't really follow McCready settings. But that doesn't mean they are not subject to McCready. McCready formulas are truth. And Dr. Sam Zimmerman points out is that McCready rules aren't suspended when flying under a cloud street.
So if we pay attention to McCready, he's saying we shouldn't slow way down under a street to stay in level flight. Rather we should dial up the appropriate McCready setting for the next climb and get on with it.
