How You Can Help

Welcome to our new Wiki site!  So, what is Wiki?  One definition can be found here.  Some say it is a part of the Web 2.0, the read/write web.   This site was initially created to support and document our efforts to gain an indepth understanding of competitive soaring knowledge and for turning this knowledge through practice into a significant competitive edge.  We have decided to share this effort with others and invite them to join in a collaborative effort to collect and organize this knowledge.  We have been fortunate to have many mentors along the way and are always amazed at how freely soaring pilots share information, insights, and techniques.

It is our hope that many will join with us and through mass collaboration, together, we can create a truly unique soaring related website for pilots of experience levels and interests.  All that is needed is for you to join in and help.  So, learn to be bold ... start adding content or editing what you see.

With your help, this site will grow to become the definitive source for soaring technical knowledge on the internet.  Several have already started adding content and you can too--it's easy.  Following the principles developed under Wikis like Wikipedia, this site has the potential to grow into a incredible resource for the soaring community.  Whatever this new Wiki is, it is an exciting new technology that allows anyone to add content to the web ... and, as with this site, without any special software or web editing knowledge.

Come on, join in the fun and help create some special.

Anywhere you see blue words, they are a link to another page or another site.  For example, click here for a brief explanation of the purpose and goals for this site.  Also, anywhere you see words in brackets, e.g. [Sandbox For Playing], it is an invitation to add some content.  Click on the bracketted text to create a new page and start adding content.  So, learn to be bold ... start adding content or editing what you see.  In most cases, you can simply double-click on a page on this site and you will be in the editor and ready to edit, add, delete, whatever.  And, don't worry, versions are saved of all past pages so going back to a previous version is a snap.  You can't mess anything up!

More detailed help is available at this Help; specifically, the "Using the Site" menu item and EditMe Wiki.  Both can be found in the Navigation Menu over to the left.  Also, their is a flash tutorial for the Editme Editor.  Additional, we have been developing Editing Notes.  These Editing Notes are actually on the www.HuntsvilleSoaring.com for now.
